Background

After having gained my law degree (LLB) from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and, thereafter, a post-graduate diploma in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, I worked for the Foreign and Commonweath Office, first in London and then at the British Embassy in Prague.

I moved to Sweden from Prague in 1978 and subsequently held administrative posts at a number of different companies including Dow Chemical, Bostik and Cray Valley. A considerable amount of my time there was spent on translation work, from Swedish into English, and in 2000 I decided that the time had come to start working freelance as a translator.
